DCR surgery for Eyes with lots of complications

Folks, I just went through the DCR surgery twice. First time, I developed acute infection on left side. It developed serious scar tissues as I was told. I went through another DCR surgery again in two months. The left improved a bit but  still tearing. I have been told to go to ENT doctor who says it is mucous. He cleans in and says come back in 3 weeks.

My fear is that it has been a month and I have not been getting better. The scare tissue and the infection that happened first time could even get worse and doctor do not seem much concerned.

What can I do here. Simply waiting and working with one eye is not an option for me.  I need to get the second opinion.  I am in San Francisco Bay area.  I can drive/travel anywhere for the right doctor in Bayarea/California/US.

Can someone suggest me a doctor who can really help.

Looks like surgery was a mistake. I was not as bad and I was told it is just a procedure and do not worry about it and it turned out to be the complete opposite.

Can anyone help. I feel I might get into a bit of depression with the feeling that I have to wipe my eyes now for the rest of my life.

Thanks, My tel# to connect is (650) 814 - 5689

Thanks John. Do appreciate the reply.  BTW, the surgery was done at Stanford :)  I guess, I might try the UCSF. Any names or referrals at UCSF who might be familiar with the surgery or I guess simply go to Ophthalmology at UCSF.

Thanks again. I read your other posts. Extremely useful.

Happy Holidays.

I agree with your decision to get another opinion.  If I could't get a recommendation from another ophthalmologist, I'd rely on Castle-Connolly's listings.  Their doctors have all been nominated by other docs as someone they'd see themselves, and they are all board-certified.  (Google the website.)  They list only one oculo-plastic surgeon in the San Francisco area:  Dr. Rona Silkiss, who has several offices.  Her main number is 510-763-0881.  (See her website.)  You could probably get a sooner appointment if another doctor made the referral for you.  Good luck.

You can try the ophthalmology departments at Stanford or USC both of which are great or go to www.aao.org and look for oculoplastic surgeons near you.
