My daughter had a stye on her left eye last year - we visited an an optometrist for antibiotic ointment and it finally cleared up. She has now developed a lesion on her right eye that I do not believe is a stye - it is on her lower lid, but significantly below the lash line. When I pull her lid out to see between the inner lid and her eye, there is a large bump that appears to be filled with pus (I hate that word). We have been applying warm compresses and using the antibiotic ointment for a few days now, and the bump only appears to be growing. I've been researching online and am wondering if this could be a chalazion? Is this common in children? I am typing this Saturday evening - can I wait until Monday morning to visit an opthomologist, or is this more urgent?
