I have "myopie" so have worn correctove lenses for the past 15 years (I am a young woman in my early thirties). My left eye is -2.00 and my right eye is a bit worse off at -2.75 but also has astigmatism.
A friend of mine told me that to make "both eyes work well" she sometimes covered up an eye when reading for ten minutes at a time. I did this a couple of days ago..sort of just for "fun". HOWEVER - I immediatly realised that when I covered up my left eye, using just my right eye to read my book, it strained my eye and immediatly I has some little "light floaters". I therefore thought: "this must mean I have a lazy eye and this is an efficient way of making the lazy right eye work harder". BUT when I turned off my light to go to sleep I realised that my right eye was almost blind for a couple of minutes.
That there was a shadow over the right eye that only gradually went away (several minutes). I therefore realised, thanks to this that in general the vision of my right eye is a shade "darker". That for example watching a white spot with only my right eye gives it a slight slight shade of grey! Last night I once again did the test -- reading my book only woith my right eye for ten minutes before turning off the light. Again I had a blind right eye with a gradual receding shadow for at least 5 minutes.
Therefore my question is:
- What is this? I hope that it is nothing serious!!!
- If this is just a lazy eye - is the type of exersise I am doing - covering my left eye 10 minutes a day a good thing to do or is it not recommended?
I thank you soooo very much for your answer to this question as I am a tad bit worried!
Thank you,
Clotilde
