Light Sensitivity

This has been something that has been happening for about six months now. Sometimes when I'm reading, it's like I can't concentrate. This mainly only happens when I'm reading on my computer where it's normally bright, and when I'm reading in a really lit room. The closest thing I found to this on the internet was something called "Irlen Syndrome", and the symptoms of it is basically what I'm experiencing. Reading black text on a bright white background is hard for me, and is worse with larger bodies of text. However, according to what I read, Irlen Syndrome is a brain problem and not an eyesight problem.

I've also been more sensitive light when outside, and noticed a lot more floaters when reading in these conditions or outside. I've talked to my eye doctor. She updated my glasses prescription but it's still the same case. She did a few tests regarding eye muscle and said my prescription should not be the cause of it.

I'm not too sure if it has to do with my eyes being sensitive to light or something with my brain. Any ideas or thoughts would be nice.

Thanks for the information so far. I'm going on vacation tomorrow for a few weeks so hopefully it can keep my mind off it. Out of curiosity, what can cause this sensitivity to light? A year ago, brightness of the computer and such did not bother me at all (did not even notice how bright the computer was at factory settings and my laptop was set at max brightness). Now I have to use my computer and phone at lowest settings.

I'm fifteen right now if that makes a difference.

An optometrist isn't an eye dr. They fit you b check your vision for glasses. You should get a dialated exam. Sensitivity to light can be caused by different things. A new inset of floaters needs to be addressed. How old are u because some ppl as they get older get floaters. I have the beginning if a cataract so I'm very sensitive to light. I also have hundreds of floaters caused by a retinal detachment I had fixed in 2006. Just get flecked out. It'll put your kind at ease and if it's something they can fix it.

She was an optometrist and the tests were done to see if my glasses prescription was too strong and was making my eyes tired or something. Is a full eye exam different from the annual eye exam?

Go get checked by a neurologist. When u say 'she' did tests was it an ophthalmologist??? Floaters are a pain in the butt. U should have a full eye exam.
