Norvasc for Hypertension

I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure.  My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily.  Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?

Dear Kathy,

As an ophthalmologist, I do not prescribe Norvasc.
However, I have not particularly seen any eye effects from it.

I recommend you submit your question to the internal medicine or
hypertension part of the forum.
