Post Yag Question

Hello,

1 )I recently had yag surgery done about 2 months ago. I noticed that I still see steaks when looking at lights at night, even though they have changed in appearance, i.e., getting longer n shorter. Is this normal part of post yag? I am going to see the doctor in 3 months, as he recommended.

2) Secondly, I went to see a OD about a month ago because I saw some new floaters, but woman was very heavy handed, even though I had dilated eye exams (indirect ophthalmoscopy) before, but none like this. She did an indirect ophthalmoscopy, when she shone the light in my eye, I almost got disoriented. It was very very bright light. Is it possible to get eye problems from this exam, and could my current conditions be due the exams she did? After the exam, I couldn't see very well from that eye for a minute or so.

Thanks,

jay

No but the air tonometer is not as accurate as a applanating tonometer.

Hello Sir,

I just wanted to give an update. I went to the Eye MD, had a thorough dilated examination, he said everything is fine. Next week I am going to OD to get new glasses, but they do an air puff test. I have had it done before, but I am curious could this test cause any problems to my IOL because of the pressure of the air.

Thank you.

What a relief, it was the "twinkle" in your eye.

your glasses need updated. I'm not sure what the white speck might be. The IOL is clear and the haptics are very small and generally not in the pupil area. You will need to ask your Eye MD surgeon.

One additional question.

I just noticed that when I look in the mirror in a slanted way, I can see a very small white speck in my pupil and it moves. It doesn't interfere with my vision, it was pointed to me by someone. Is this IOL or its haptics? And is this normal.

Thanks again.

Thank you sir.

Yes, I am currently wearing old glasses, and I have noticed when I really focus the light, the streaks move and eventually disappear.

For your second question the eye exam would not have caused problems and it is normal to have some discomfort and not to be able to see clearly for several minutes due to the bright light exposure.

For your first question it is not normal for you to have these symptoms WITH GLASSES.  Without glasses the problem can be due to uncorrected refractive errors. I would move up the appointment with the Eye MD that did your yag cap and be sure you get a test for glasses (refraction).
