Question for JodiJ about isokonic glasses

JodiJ.....You have previously  offered information about isokonic glasses....Do you know anyone that has tried using the glasses? If so, have they been satisfied with their  vision and symptom relief of aniseikonia? I've talked with a tech from the lab that services my area. They have the software to make the lens, but never had an order to make them.  You have responded to my prior posts explaining aniseikonia......My only bothersome symptom  is the spatial disorientation.......and it's getting difficult to live with. Prior to cataract surgery, intuition told me I would not end up with  doctor's  expected   results. So now I'm very apprehensive about any addition surgery.....I am resigned to yag in the near future....for second clouding. I feel I'm not a good candidate for wearing a contact.....it's doubtful I can place and remove them.....and I know I'm not dedicated to trying. I realized I've limited my options, fearful of additional risks.....my preference is to wear glasses until my other eye needs surgery. Any information you offer will be greatly appreciated.....

I've worn iseikonic glasses myself--and they definitely work.  In your case, they should completely eliminate your symptoms.  (If your eye care professional has size lenses, you can hold the right one in front of your eye to get the effect.  I predict that you will feel an immediate reduction of tension.)  If you do choose this option, I'd go with high index aspheric lenses and smaller frames.  A good optician can advise you.

Contact lenses are really not that hard to place and remove.  (Little kids learn to do it.)  Stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond and Ulta now sell inexpensive mirrors with x15 magnification power to make the task easier.  If you choose a 1-day disposable contact, there's no need to clean/store it.

But having laser vision correction (LASIK, PRK) might be your best choice.  I'd expect that this option would carry very little risk in your case.  It might be worth your time to consult the best refractive surgeon in town to find out.
