Blind Spot in One Eye

I am a 35 year old female. It’s going on two months ago that I woke up one morning with a spot in my vision. It is to the upper left of my point of vision – only in my left eye. It looked like what you would see after looking at a bright light - except I didn’t and it didn’t go away. I could see it in the dark and when I closed my eye. I called my ophthalmologist’s office and got an appointment that day. They dilated my eyes, gave me a visual field test and an OCT. Nothing was found. I was referred to a neuro-opthalmologist and my appointment was a month away.
Over the next few days it got a little less noticeable. Over the next couple of weeks it faded to smaller blind spot in my vision. I became (and still am) extremely worried about this. I started googling symptoms. I freaked out and went to the ER because I began thinking I might have had a stroke. They did an MRI and CT and both were clear. Then I was referred to a neurologist. I had a lot of blood work done looking for clotting issues and I also had an echocardiogram. Nothing was found (except for some genetic mutation called MTHFR gene). I am currently being referred to a hematologist for the MTHFR gene. I also have an MRA scheduled for later this week.
I have seen the neuro-opthalmologist and he wasn’t concerned. He dilated my eyes and did a visual field test. He said my eyes are very healthy. He said he thinks maybe I am noticing my normal blind spot. I know this is not true because I know the difference. I really wasn’t sure what to think after leaving that appointment.
I am extremely worried and fear that something serious health-wise is going on. I wasn’t eating for a while and I became extremely depressed – even suicidal at one point.
So my question is, how serious is this? Has anyone had this happen to them and turn out okay? I did a search and I found some people with similar situations on here, but they disappear.

I think it unlikely your eye symptom is serious or a sign of anything serious. Given the extended and expensive work up you have had its not likely anything serious would cause this. I have no idea about the concern over the gene you have.
