Red tint vision in sunlight

Dr. Hagan,

I am 29 years old with optic nerve drusen in both eyes and hyperopia in my right eye.  My eyes are very sensitive when it comes to being outside.  I don't think I have been outside without sunglasses in years.  Anyway, if I do take off my sunglasses outside I notice that my vision in my right eye, the one with hyperopia, has a distint red/pink tint to it.  The left eye is fine and can filter the sunlight just fine.  I have been to a retinal specialist about unrelated problems and had an OCT and he said my retina looks just fine.  Could it be that I just need to correct the hyperopia in my right eye and the vision will be less red/pink?  Or is it more likely the optic nerve drusen?

the most common types of OCT are optic nerve OCT and macular OCT. He likely did macular OCT.  You can call if you want to verify. Optic nerve OCT is usually done for glaucoma diagnosis.

The Retinal Opthamologist did an OCT test.  He showed me the results and said they looked fine.  Is there a difference between a Macula OCT and OCT?  Do I need to call his office to see what type of OCT test he performed?

optic nerve drusen will not affect color vision unless there is so much pressure on the nerve it damages it and that is very very unusual. If you had a macula OCT and don't have a cataract then this is not likely to be caused by anything serious. I can't tell you if correction of the refractive error would make a difference to you.
