Retinal Swelling

I had a follow-up visit with the retinal specialist concerning the retinal swelling and double vision in my right eye.  As reported earlier, I have bilateral open-angle glaucoma and cataracts, the cataract in the right eye having been removed in 2005 at which time the lens fell into the back of the eye, followed by vitrectomy in 2006 and an intraocular implant in 2007.  I now have retinal swelling which is being treated with Prednisolone and Nevanac, 3X daily, right eye.  I'm using Alphagan, Azopt (both 2x daily in both eyes) and Xalatan (both eyes at night).  My pressure is now 14 in left eye and 21 in right eye.  The retinal specialist had considered injections of steroids for the swelling, but thinks it may cause an exacerbation of the glaucoma, so is having me continue the Prednisolone and Nevanac until the bottles are empty.  Since I am still having diplopia, he says I should continue using the eye patch on the right eye (I've been using the patch since the initial cataract surgery).   Any recommendations?  I don't see much future for improved vision and I'm discouraged.

Yes, get a second opinion from a second retina specialist and/or glaucoma specialist.  Find one at www.aao.org
