WHY AM I SEEING ZIG ZAG LINES THROUGHT HE SIDE OF MY EYE

I have been seeing zig zags for about a year now (off and on).  Today I had one in the AM and PM and they stayed about 20 minutes.
I have known two people that have seen Zig Zags and died of a stroke.  One died about a month after and one had a stroke at the time she saw the zig zags.  She was fine and told her granddaughter that she was seeing zig zags and fell done and never regained conciseness and died the next day.

Probably a visual migraine - usuall lasts about 20 minutes and sometimes followed by heachache but usually not.  Look on google or emedicine or search archives of this forum to learn more.  See an ophthalmologist to make sure it is not a retinal or vitreous detachment or a transient ischemic attack.
