Scleral Buckle cause the redness?

Hi, i had a retinal detachment surgery done on February 2011, but for more than 1 year, my eye still look redness at the inner corner of my right eye (retinal detachment eye), may i know what is the main reason? is it because of the scleral buckle? Doctor did advise me remove the buckle may help and will reduce the redness,
is it true? Is it safe to remove the buckle? what is the chances of retinal to be detach again?

Hi Dr. O,

In your expericene,do you ever encounter cases that patient eye still redness after 1 year of surgery? beside cause by buckle, is there any other reason?

My eye not only redness, sometime i will feel pain as well, what is the reason?

Hi Dr O,

Thank you so much for your reply, then i shall monitor another few weeks, and if the situation no improve, then i shall remove the buckle and my doctor also did advise can be done in his clinic.

Yes, it is possible that the buckle is causing the redness.  It is usually safe to remove the buckle after a year.  Main risk is re-detachment.  It can be done in the office with a local anesthetic.
