Seeing a spot after two migraines in a row

by moogman2268, Sep 30, 2008 11:43AM
Last week I had a hectic schedule and lost a good amount of sleep.  At the end of the week I got a migraine two days in a row.  I usually get migraines from lack of sleep, but I haven't had concurrent ones for a few years now.  Since the pain has gone away, I am still seeing a somewhat bright spot in my left eye.  It is fairly round, and doesn't impair my vision too much, but when I blink I can see it, as if I had been looking at the sun for a little too long.  It has lessened in terms of brightness over the past few days, but occasionally it behaves a bit like the aura I see before migraines, but never progresses into a full out pre-migraine aura like I usually get.  It's been about 3 days now and it still hasn't gone away.  Should I be worried about this?  Thanks.

Blood Pressure problems can cause these " bright spots". You should be tested by a doctor and see if you can be perscribed anything. If your blood pressure is normal than it should go away in about a week with lots of sleep.

You should see an Eye MD ophthalmologist ASAP. Eye migraines or regular migraines can cause small strokes or damage to the retina. Especiallyin women that smoke or whom are pregnant or on birth conrol pills.

I have had that many times related and unrelated to migraines and at first it is a little concerning.  However, you start to see all sorts of weird things when you regular have migraines, it's a bit like you are over sensitive to the environment and your hyper alert to everything.  I started to relax about things when I had an MRI and was then sure it wasn't anything else but migraines.  One thing I would say though is always make sure you have regular eye checks, as migraines can cause Glaucoma, which is something I am being investigated for at the moment, this is rare though, but no harm getting them looked at once a year!

Migraines cannot cause glaucoma. They are independent but common problems.
