Chronic pain from scleral buckle

I had a retina detachment surgery almost 30 years ago and they put a buckle in my eye. The eye is in fair condition but I have had this pain and discomfort from day one. In the beginning I thought that this situation is normal until about 20 years ago I found that the buckle had been installed too tight and had penetrated to the scleral area. The doctors tried to remove the buckle but didn't succeed. The situation has been static (no change) since then but I live with this great discomfort and perpetual pain (at times unbearable) that affects the quality of my life.
Any body has an idea what non-surgical (eg. hypnosis or accupunture ) or other natural pain relieving treatment or exercises I can pursue?

Thanks a lotAlbert

Thanks John

I would rather avoid touching the eye.

Regarding getting some sort of relief from a pain clinic (there are lots of private - pain - clinics in Toronto area) do I have to go to go to a specific one or any one can help ?

Thanks

Lest you think it was put on too tight that is not at all likely. Over the years many buckles start to "intrude" into the eye. They often have to be cut or removed. It is NOT evidence that thebuckle was put on too tight.

I would suggest you be referred to a pain clinic.

I have no idea about any alternative medical approaches for the pain.
However, I would suggest getting another opinion from a retinal specialist at a teaching/university hospital. They'd probably have more experience in dealing with such cases.
