Thanks for the feedback. I followed up with my Dr. and we decided to go back to the YAG and increase the size of the openings in the capsule. From my previous work with telescopes and base understanding of optics it was likely the anterior opening that was causing the problem.
He enlarged the posterior with a few zaps and then worked on the front opening for a while getting it bigger. After a couple days my pupils had returned to normal nightime opening and the starburst was almost entirely eliminated. I'm scheduled to get the other eye done in a couple weeks.
The Dr. thinks my pupil dilates more than most people and a standard opening wasn't enough. He measured the openings at 4.5mm diameter before to the second procedure. First time he had run into this problem (or I was the first to mention it)
Floaters would not cause that. The problem could be a sign of needing glasses, or a new glasses RX, or "dysphotopsia" from the IOL. Use the search feature and archives to read about that.
