Strange lights following scleral buckle removal

Strange lights following scleral buckle removal

Just under two weeks ago I had my scleral buckle removed from my eye.

On two separate occasions I have seen large 3-d swirling prisms of light in the left sight of my vision in my bad eye. They last about 10 minutes, gradually getting bigger from a small spot of light and then getting smaller again.

I had the first instance of these lights a few days after my surgery and have been examined by my surgeon since and he said my retina appeared flat and wasn't unduly concerned by the lights.

But, I saw the lights again yesterday and I can also see some mild swirling light in my peripheral vision in my bad eye, though it's very minor.

What would you suggest I do?  I don't want to go back to the hospital again if I don't need to as it's about 150km away.

I due not think this is related to the retina.  Usually, these symptom of traction on the retinal last seconds.

Next time see how long they last and if it is in both eyes ( cover each eye and check).  If so this is probably ocular migraine.
