Sudden partial loss vision one eye

I recently had an episode of some vision loss of only one eye with no headache.  Lasted for approximately 15 mins.  Went to ophthalmologist who said my eyes are fine all the way around.  Said it could be an ocular migraine or high blood pressure.  Ruled out the HBP.  This morning had it again with no real headache in the same eye but greater loss of vision lasting fewer minutes.  Last week I had sudden redness of eye as well.  No history of high blood pressure or migraines at all!  Already went through menopause and went off of a medication I thought could contribute to this vision problem.  Should I go to a neurologist?  Or should I just chalk it up as being an ocular migraine.  No stress at the time this occurred but because it happened more than once am concerned it could be something else.  Thanks.

Wonderful, thank you for the information. It is so good of you to offer your advise on this web site. It brings back the idea of home visits from the small town country doctor. I will tell him hello and he is a great man with very gifted hands, I own him so much more then what I could ever payback...

I know Dr. Tom Essman and he is a very fine retina surgeon and a wonderful person. He knows Dr. Doane. I would just ask him if it were worth the trip up to KC to see Dr. Doane. If he says "no" then I would believe him. You can also tell him Dr. Hagan says "Hello".

I understand that only an Ophthalmologist, can help me. I now see  and have been for more then 2 years the St. John's eye  specializest, in Springfiled, Thomas Essman M.D The retina surgeon. Doctor  Wendell Scott who also did the eye surgery and  Doctor  Knick who has made a contact lens (Option/ methafilcon B) (bc 8.9 diam 1 sph +13.50 cyl -02.75 ax 065) for me to wear. They never thought that would even work, but it has helped somewhat. I was told I can't wear glasses they would be way too thick to wear. The contact is a very high power rubbery and thick, the size of a dime. I get double vision from it but without it I only see light and dark and colors. with it I see more or less it's shape. These doctors said with my kind of injury a surgeon can not do a len implant, as yet, they would not be able to hold it inplace (as it would move around on the eye ball) . I was lead to believe that at some point in time they (The Eye Vision Center) maybe able to do this surgery someday to replace my lens. Is it already being done in Kansas City? Does Doctor John Doane MD of your Discover Vision Centers do this kind of len replacement. Plain cataract surgery will not work for me. if it is being done and I wanted in find out more about it, what would you can that kind of surgery? thank you for your time

Only an real examination in person by an Ophthalmologist, ideally one that specializes in cornea and anterior segment surgery could tell you what is possible and what is not.

There are some fine ophthalmologists in Springfield and sometime you may want to drive up to Kansas City and see John Doane MD of our Discover Vision Centers. He is a nationally and internationally renowned cornea and anterior segment surgeon.

I don't see anything in that little black bag for me...words from Dorothy in OZ. I live in Missouri. Sparta which is about 30 to 40 mile outside Branson. 2 years ago I was attacked by a banny rooster here on my farm of 65 ac. I bend over to pick up a dog dish and out of no where, in mist of January, he came and landed on my head, cutting me up in 5 places. The hook of the bird's foot went into my eyelid cutting it's way through the whole eye. For lack of better words, what was round was no loinger round in my right eye. 3 surgerys later, my lens had to be removed and the rim that held the lens in place is now gone.I lost the sight of that eye, thank GOD I did not loose the eyeball itself. My guestion to you is this. I am 56 1/2 years old, will there be a time when I can have a new lens? Can they build me a chair (if you will) to sit the lens in to hold it in place?
Do they even do that? I heard that someday it maybe allowed in the States as they maybe doing somewhere else? Or is it a pipe dream to think I will be able to see again..after all man can only do so much after all he is not GOD. Any advise or kind words sir? thank you for your time

Yes you should go to a neurologist very important. THings other than migraine can cause this and some are very serious.
