Sutures or no sutures?

My mother in law had very successful cataract surgery (in California) with David F. Chang and provided me with a copy of his book - Cataracts - A Patient's Guide to Treatment. It's my turn but I'm in CT. My local opthamologist says he will only do cataract surgery with two sutures as a protection against eye infection, but Dr. Chang's book says that this is no longer recommended. Not an easy question, but who's right?

Have you considered getting a second (and possibly a third) opinion for another board-certified, experienced cataract surgeon in your area?
