glistenings do not clincally affect the vision or the health of the eye. It can be a little unnerving for someone that looks into the pupil and sees these strainge reflections.

Thank you both for the information. It sounds like my doctor has chosen a good lens. Jodie, I was also interested in your comment about the glistening effect of some lenses, since I had read about that on some other threads.

My acrylic AcrySof IQs have a glistening effect to onlookers in some lighting conditions. The newest Tecnis monofocal is not supposed to glisten.
Aspheric IOLs are less likely to cause glare than spheric. Square edges inhibit clouding of the posterior capsule and have lower yag rates but may have more glare/edge reflexes than round edges. The new aspheric Tecnis monofocal is, in my opinion, the best out there.
