Temporary blindness?

Hi

Im a 20 year old female and yesterday I experienced a weird "episode"where I went blind for a few minutes. I woke up in the morning and took a short warm shower. All of a sudden when getting out of the shower I immediately felt I needed to vomit. I had a sharp pain in my stomach and a lot of nausea. At first I thought I may just have the flu, but then all of a sudden my vision in both eyes went away. I was completely blind and couldn't see anything. I panicked and my mother Brought me to my bed. Laying down I still couldn't see anything for about 10 minutes. After closing and opening my eyes repeatedly , my vision slowly came back. Once my vision came back I had a massive migraine and ringing in my ears.   What could this be? should I be concerned?

Yes you should be concerned and take some basic actions. Start by seeing an eye MD ophthalmologist for a basic eye exam. Second see your personal physician for an evaluation and general physical. While there are other causes the most common would be a migraine with aura/scotoma. This diagnosis is made only after excluding disease of the heart, brain, blood vessels and eyes as possible cause.
