Visual Prolems after Malaria

Visual Prolems after Malaria

Respected Doctor,

I am 23 yrs old , healthy Male.  I would like to ask about a problem.

Recently i had vivax malaria so i had chloroquine and primaquine and was completely cured. But after that i am noticing some eye problems like :

(1)'Blue-field entoptic phenomenon',
(2) few floaters,
(3) halos around the light in night and
(4)when i look at dark regions at night i see visual noise( for example the type of noise seen in tv when the reception is bad).

I went to see a eye doctor,he saw my eye in a Slit Lamp, took my vision test, eye pressure, did Amslers grid test and color blind test. He said vision was ok and told me to use 'Refresh' Eye drops. But the problems did not go away.

Please advise. Should i go and have a Retina check up or should i pay less attention to these problems and lead a normal life.

Thanking you in anticipation,
Regards.
Jeet.

It is not likely tthat this is due to malaria. The medications can cause some eye damage but not like you describe.  (1) and (2) are normal. (3) can be due to needing glasses or cataracts (4) is strange.

Suggest you see a neuroophthalmologist if one is available.
