Vitrectomy, membrane peel- ICG dye

My retina specialist wishes to use ICG dye during my Vitrectomy Membrane peel this Thursday.  Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not this ICG dye has toxic effects on the retina cells ???
Our research found that it does have toxic effects, but I don't know if I should cancel the surgery because of that.

Any advice would be appreciated.  I don't want to risk future problems with something that is toxic and not common practice.  Thanks.

Some doctors use dye and some do not.  Toxicity is not a  problem is used correctly.
