Chalazion after surgery

I have read that a bump after surgery is normal, but this bump keeps changing. It is different in the morning than it is at night (bigger) and this is exactly what it did before surgery. It is like he never even did anything to the cyst. I am beyond disappointed. It is also a bit pointy at times just like it was before surgery. I am at a loss. I think this was unsuccessful. The doctor I went to was NO help in talking to me before or after the surgery. He didn't even like me asking questions. The thought of going through another procedure is making me sick!

The results of chalazion surgery generally take several weeks (often 4-6 weeks)  to see. The chalazion is not like a stye or pimple where you incise it and pus drains out. the chalazion is tough grissle like tissue that has to be scraped and curretted out of the eye. Inflamed, tissue is always left behind to heal.

Be sure to use the search feature on this page to look up "blepharitis" the most common cause of chalazions.  Unless you keep your lid margins clear of oil and debris you'll be doing more chalazion surgery in the future

Thanks! I feel like its gotten worse at nine days after surgery. It looks like there is white inside and the bump is for sure much bigger than it was after the surgery. Also if now I am left with inflamed tissue, can this cause another blockage in the gland, hence cause the gland to block again?
Yes there are about 40 vertical oil glands in each lid so any one of them could block off and get another chalazion thus the importance of cleaning the lid margins with something like Ocusoft Plus Platinum lid cleaner. You can either return to the surgeon whom you don't like or find another opthalmologist.
