after oil removal

i have had two eye surgeries, buckle and retinal repairs... the last surgery i had silicone oil put in instead of gas ... my question is -- what is put in place of the oil once it is removed? can fresh oil replace the old oil? are there any alternatives to the gas?

Hi Dr! I have had 4 retinal detachment in my right eye and 1 in my left eye. All have sclera buckle. The right eye was only buckled in the 3rd repair and put silicone oil. However now its 3 months after the oil removal and I seeing flashes and air bubbles. I went to consult and my opthalmologist said the is subretinal fluid causing the peripheral retina to losen and small holes next to the buckle. However he said it is far from the laser scar and he will monitor it. I want to know if its ok because these are not affecting my vision or pressure at all. I am very tired of needles and offs from work. Please advice! Thank you!
