"blended vision recomendations"

Hello forum, I have a unilateral cataract in my non dominate eye,
Never wore glasses for any distance before.  Never tried blended or monovision
How would you set a monofocal in the non dominante eye with
the expectation that some time in the future I will also get a cataract
in my dominante eye and need an iol in that eye too.  I am thinking
to set it for intermediate and in the future have my dominante eye set
for distance but i was worried how well would I be seeing in the meantime
between surgeries.  Could be years, hopefully.  Any sugestions would
be greatly apprieciated!
Thanks

Ask your surgeon's advice about the target.  It would probably be something around -1.25.  If you're over 40, your friends who are your age will soon be needing readers for restaurant menus and the newspaper (but you'll do just fine with this correction).

Get a glare test in your good eye to see if surgery is in the near future.  If so Crystalens.  If not Jodie's suggestion is excellent.

Thanks Jodie, What should the iol be set for to get intermediate in my non dominante eye  e.g. -1.00?  What would be my range of vision in that eye?
Thanks

If your dominant eye sees well at all distances and you had an IOL in your nondominant eye set for intermediate vision, you should be able to see well at all distances without correction.  Eventually you would probably need weak readers for prolonged reading or seeing small print.  (I assume that you are in your 40's or younger.)

Or would a contact lens solution work better in between surgeries?
