eye is swollen and has a white spot under the eyeball

I woke up the other morning with my eye swollen and bruised.  It looks like I got a black eye, but I know for a fact I haven't been hit in my eye to warrant a black eye.  The inside of my eye below the eyeball is pretty red and there is a white spot there that looks like a canker sore.  The pain comes and goes, but it is pretty irritating.  The day before my eye started to hurt I remember something getting in my eye and it took about 10 minutes for me to get it out.  Can a doctor please tell me if I should see a doctor, or should I let it heal on its own?  It has been hurting for 3 days now, and it didn't swell up until 2 days after I had something in my eye.
