eye problem

my 5 year old son's right eye has  a yellowish white discharge since this afternoon. should i take him to a doctor or just use sertlizing eye drops?

If there is pain or blurred vision or the condition worsens over-night I would take him to your pediatrician or an Eye MD.  If there is no pain or blurred vision and its getting better you can continue observation. Generally eye over the counter eye drops are not helpful.
