Retinal Detachment surgery recovery period

I had retinal detachment surgery on March 9th and am still experiencing assorted problems with my eye.  I still have a dark circle and swelling that is worse in the morning.  I also have allergies and spring pollen in our area is very high.  I would like to know how long it takes to fully recover and have a normal feeling in the eye after a scleral buckle procedure.  My surgeon says I am healing nicely, but I am concerned about the feeling of heaviness in my eye and would like your opinion.

Complete visual healing after RD surgery can take 6-12 months. Your other concerns should be directed to the surgeon.

Thank you for your prompt reply.   I will check with my opthamologist when I see him in May.  I just wish that the surgeon was more interested in informing patients of possible side effects and what to expect.

Make a list of your questions. Don't let him go till they're answered.

I had a doctor who never said much until I asked it point black. He would answer with the least information possible. I read a lot, so I learned which answers were incomplete. I hope your doctor is better. '

You can try  "Is that all I need to know?' "Will my vision change all the time, every week, or when?  What kinds of problems should I look for?
If you need more help, write back.

Be patient with him, but assertive and sincere.
