Hi, I have normal tension glaucoma and had cataract surgery a month ago. You do want to closely monitor your pressure after the surgery as it can spike. I was told that it would be checked the at the doctor's office early the next day and if it was very high, there was something the doctor could do to lower it. I had my pressure checked the following morning and it was okay. I took a couple of doses of Diamox in pill form as a preventive and continued all my glaucoma meds. My doctor didn't think I needed to take the Diamox. Also, you will have to take steroid drops for a few weeks and that can raise pressure in some people. I'm not sure that it had an affect on my eye.
I had a ReStor lens implanted and have problems with blurriness. I'm regretting having that premium lens implanted because now I may have to subject my eye to another surgery just so I wouldn't have to wear reading glasses.
Also, my doctor told me that the multifocal lenses are not contraindicated for glaucoma, but I've read some things since then that seems to question that. So, if I had to do it over, I would've gotten a regular monofocal lens. Do your homework prior to agreeing to the type of lens.
The circumstances vary and there is no special IOP that requrires surgery. There is no best IOL, many fine IOLs are on the market. The only way you can find out about your surgeons experieince is to ask him'/her.
