help with any information concerning scleral buckle...had done in 1998

I have a scleral buckle in my right eye that has moved towards the front of my eye. My eye appears swollen all the time and the buckle is very close to being seen if you are looking straight at me. I have No pain but my vision is somewhat impared. My eye doctor want to remove most if not all the buckle. I am fearful this may be a journey of problems the more I read about is there anyone else that has had this problem.The buckle is fairly large and actually surrounds the whole top of my eye and is now almost resting in the corner of my eye close to the top of my nose

These cases are always unique and its not possible to generalize. Normally the buckle stays on till the person dies. In some cases it can "migrate" which means slip out of place and in some cases "intrude" which means it cuts into the eye like a knife into cheese. In those cases leaving can cause much more problem then removing. If you are uncertain get a 2nd or 3rd opinion.
