Best wishes for a 'special delivery'
I do not do drugs or smoke. I do worry about everything! So hopefully stress will not damage vessels but I am sure does not help. I still get after images from sun reflections not large small bright spots that last about a minute or two. My Dr said I do not need an Oct scan Macula was OK so far.
I am not overweight just turned 32 but high cholesterol is hereditary my father of Jewish descent all have issues with cholesterol. I am due next week with my second child and will have blood work done after to make sure my levels are good. I was just thinking maybe he saw Drusen! And mistaken it for cholesterol deposits but since you are saying a Retinal surgeon would definitely be able to tell me the difference I feel better.
Why don't you check back with the doctor that checked you and ask where the cholesterol deposits were. If they are in your cornea (if you are in your 30's that would be called 'arcus juvenalis") Then you should have a fasting lipid profile done by your personal physician. If your cholesterol and triglycerides are normal then it has not adverse health consequences and while normal after age 65 it can occur in young people like someone's hair turning gray at age 30. If the deposits were in the blood vessels in the back of the eye Then you need to see your general physician for a physical and lab. Import to rule out: diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, overweight/obesity related and I'm hoping you don't use nicotine or cannabis as these damage blood vessels.
Dr Hagan , you don't know how much I appreciate your quick responses. I can now sleep better tonight. He did not mention drunsen just said it was odd at my age for cholesterol deposits. My mind goes straight to myopic degeneration Bc I am a high risk with my myopia. Thank you for clearing it up for me. I need these eyes for another 18 years I pray to God just to raise my one year old daughter! I wish you practiced in NY ! I am looking for a new rs who will explain more and not leave me hanging .

There are different types of drusen within the eye: Hard, soft, optic nerve, macular, mid-peripheral. None indicate any problem with lipids. (cholesterol) The cholesterol could be in your retina blood vessels or in the peripheral cornea where is it called "arcus"
If my Dr saw cholesterol deposits in my eyes and said just get my blood checked are those deposits considered drusens or they would be able to tell the difference between cholesterol deposits and drusens
No its not normal. If your pigment atrophy is in the macula this could be a cause. If its getting worse you should at the minimum call your retina eye MD and see if they want you to come in now for a repeat exam.
Thank you I saw my retinal Dr last month but did not mention it to him. Also will pigment atrophy causes sun spots to last longer . Maybe I have always had this but more noticeable to me since I'm so anxious about my eyes. But is it normal for a quick glance at a sun reflection to leave a spot for a couple mins?.
If its something very new and very noticeable it should be checked by an ophthalmologist. It is not likely a sign of rod dysfunction but could represent problems with the macula especially swelling. The macula has only cones, no rods. The test would need to include a macular OCT. So wee an Eye MD ophthalmologist and consider asking for that test, its not very expensive.
I have simple myopia (-2.25) and lattice in both eyes. Pathological high myopia is an entirely different disease that your ophthalmologist would have told you if you have. Right now its only possible to say you have high myopia and lattice.

Lattice degeneration does not affect central vision and is not the same as myopic macular degeneration. I have lattice in both eyes and so does about 5% of the population. It is generally not progressive and generally requires no treatment even if there are small round hole in it. A small number of retinal detachments can begin from areas of lattice. Lattice does generally not progress much over a lifetime JCH MD
