lens implant

My daughter had congenital cataract and has to undergo lens implant she is now 5 years old. Our opthalmologist
explained that lens will be placed infront of the iris at the same time they are going to stretch out the pupil since she has miotic pupil. We went to another opthalmologist for a second opinion and we were told that lens will be placed behind the iris. The second opthalmologist said that he prefers to have a surgery for the pupil first and have lens implant when my daughter turns 7 years old.

Please help, we don't know where to go. What is the best step to take.

of the two the anterior chamber IOL has the greatest chance of damaging the cornea but the posterior chamber IOL may be more difficult to put in.

Thanks you for responding. How true that if lens will be placed infront of the iris there is a possibility of cornea damage in the future?

Thanks again!

There are two postions that are used: in front of the iris (anterior chamber IOL) and behind (posterior chamber IOL).

Either can work. You should probably go with the recommendation of the surgeon you feel the most comfortable with.

Or you can break the tie and get a third opinion. Often its 6 of one a half dozen of the other both can get the vision to where you want it to be.
