I recently had cataract surgery and the op. swayed me toward a dstance in my (right)dominant eye 22.5 was the lense # and a reader 24 lense # in my left eye. Is it reasonable to put a short distance lense(reader) in an eye that has macular scarring .
Thank You

Do you know what your Target Diopter numbers are?   Like +1 or -2, etc.

I also have had retina scarring surgery (ERM, Vitrectomy) and am looking into Cataract surgery so I would be interested in what your Cataract Surgeon targeted and what you actually ended up at.
Also, how you like it.

Thank you !

It depends on the visual potential of the eye.

I had ERM surgery in my right eye, which left me with excellent acuity but mild distortion due to retinal damage.  Looking though my right eye, images are slightly elongated--like in an El Greco painting.  The distortion is most noticeable when I look at faces with only my right eye.  However, both my IOLs are set for distance, and I am not aware of the distortion using both eyes together--my good left eye seems to override my damaged one.  I use progressive glasses for near/intermediate vision.  I don't know whether my experience would generalize to that of others.

I've been told that the eye is a 20/40 eye
