The most important thing about the eye is having good vision so that is a much more important question to ask. I have 1.50 diopters of cylinder (astigmatism) and I've been an eye surgeon and have 20/20 vision.   So the question is moot.  It could increase or it could decrease. Also important what the "sphere" is and what the vision is and whether the eyes are straight.  Keep him under the care of an Eye MD ophthalmologist and check other children as this runs in families.
