myopia

My son aged 31/2yrs , takes pictures books too close to his eyes for viewing, goes too close to TV, computer for watching, and ophthalmologist has written -3.0 dip. and has said he has to wear glasses. please do tell me is there  any other option? will the condtion progress? what are my treatment options? I am from india.

1. Yes glasses are necessary for the eyes to develop normally.
2. Contacts or lasik surgery is not an option.
3. Yes myopia usually progresses, no there is no way to stop it.

Is it myopia or any other diagnosis?
If he has to wear glasses does he need to wear alwaysor only sometimes? if so when?

a -3.00 lens corrects for myopia. Ask your ophthalmologist the other questions. Generally wear all the time.
