Seeing coloured rings while pressing my eye.

When I press on caruncula (to remove eye discharge) I see coloured rings or some kind of abberations. They disappear as I lift my finger. Is this normal?

No move on but do have a medical eye exam with an Eye MD ophthalmologist to be sure your eyes are healthy.

Thanks Dr. I had an eye exam in last Jan. I remembered that a relative of mine had a tonometer which uses these phosphenes. I was worried that may be I have high eye pressure as just a light touch makes them appear.
Glaucoma patients and patients with above IOP normal don't report this. I would just have annual exam and worry about something worth worrying about.

Thanks. I see these patterns when I try to remove eye discharge. I don't exert any pressure but my finger touchs a small part of conjunctivaa kindly and they appear. I ask if it is normal to see these patterns with eyes open and with this little pressure mentioned before and if it would harm my eyes.

I saw these phosphenes before, but what worries me is that just touching caruncula make them appear.
How about this for a plan? Stop pressing on your caruncle.
No problem. It is just worrying me that a light touch makes this happen. I don't know if this can be due to eye pressure or if this may be serious. Can it be?

It is not normal or good for the eye to press on it.   Images formed from pressure on the eye are called pressure phosphenes.
