post dsek complication

Hi, my mom has Fuch's dystrophy, had corneal transplants in both eyes in 1999.  In 2009, her right eye rejected the "new" cornea.  After having a DSEK, which went well and her doctor was pleased with her progress, she developed fluid behind her retina.  They have not been able to take care of it, and aren't sure what else to do.  She gets an injection of avastin behind her retina every 4 to 6 weeks, but it doesn't help it.  They feel it may be keeping it from getting worse.  Does anyone else have this problem after DSEK surgery or have any suggestions we can take to her specialists?

Thanks, D.

I believe they are completely unrelated problems. Just like old people have lots of different health problem old eyes often have more than one problem. Ask her ophthalmologists to be sure.

Thank you Dr. Hagan.  Mom has a Retina Specialist and a Cornea Specialist.  Her Cornea specialist says her cornea looks okay, has some edema, but is not sure about the fluid behind the retina, so she sent her to the Retina Specialist and she believes it is related to the DSEK and thinks that there are several other people she has heard about.  I need to correct my original post.  The DSEK was not done because of rejection of the donor cornea, but because of graft failure and her Cornea specialist felt this was the best choice.
