I don't do retina surgery so I ask one of our retinal surgeons and he said it's like vacuuming up dog hair or needles from a Christmas tree, you can never get it all and some is always left behind.

thank you for the reply.
just wondering if the residual silicon oil bubbles are common after vitrectomy to drain the oil?
Or the surgeon just didn't do a good job?
Any gas put in the eye will eventually reabsorb. The silicon oil remains permanently. Hopefully your ophthalmologist is corrrect and it will disperse and not be noticiable.
