reduction in myopia

MY OPTIMETRIST TELLS ME THERE IS A CHANGE IN POWER FROM -3.75 2 YEARS AGO TO -2.5 NOW IN ONE EYE AND -1.75 TO -0.5 IN OTHER.

WHAT DOES THIS INDICATE?  is there a cause for concern?

Depends a lot on your age and your general health. Younger than 40 this suggests your previous glasses were "over-minused" or made too strong for you. This can occur if your glasses determination was done without dilating the eye. OR it can occur due to diabetes, early cataract, cornea disease or you had LASIK. All of these need to be ruled out before you "rejoice".
I suggest you see an ophthalmologist  Find one near you at www.aao.org

Sounds like good news to me.

You don't indicate your age, but particularly in young people a change in the eye prescription -- even a significant change -- is fairly common and not a cause for concern.
