retina detachment

i see black round and thread like floaters in my eyes from last 10 to 15 years. My power is -8.5. My doctor checked my retina and advices me visit him again after a month. meanwhile doctor has suggested me to put 'I-ste' drops in my eyes and take v-rat tablets.Is it a retina detachment problem. Is it recoverable?

Thank you sir for kind advice. Your last sentence showed me some hope.  My doctor is MD (Oph) and i will be in his guidance. Thanx once again.

Your "eye doctor" should be a MD physician ophthalmologist (have MD after his/her name not an OD which is a limited care non physician optometrist). If you do see an Eye MD follow your doctors instructions. If you are not seeing an eye MD see one. Find one at www.aao.org

The drops will not help floaters.  Use the search feature and read all about flaoters and retinal detachments.

Most floaters do not indicate a RD
