retinal detachment

When i searched the internet for symptoms of retinal detachment one of the symptom was :the impression that a curtain or veil was drawn in the field of vision: What exactly does this mean? I mean how do they look? what is their size, where do they appear etc. Also kindly explain me the other symptoms of RD. It will be of great help

thank you all..i recently had a tiny dot which is somewhat greyish in colour which lasted for a few minutes.. i thought that they wer just eye illusion. are they symptom of retinal detachment. they sometimes randomly appear and go .are they symptom of rd?

The curtain is due to the retina detaching.  The area of detachment looks like a curtain.  Think of wall paper coming off the wall.  This area would be the area of change in vision-curtain (opposite -upper retinal detachment would have a lower curtain).  Flashes , floaters, tiny dot describes as smoke, bugs, etc lasting a day or so, loss of side vision, blurred vision, etc.

in the case of PVD symptoms include sudden increase in the no floater's,flashes etc
for RD above mentioned symptoms accompanied by black region in your field of vision (appear like a black curtain).
