What are retina burns caused by? Are they always caused by UV rays like the sun? Are there other light sources besides UV rays that can causes burns? Maybe staring at a lamp for long periods.

Very rare.  You have to stare at a really bright light source.  Usually occurs when people look at the eclipse of the sun.
