scarring on retina

I had an operation for a detached retina a couple of years ago. Vision is fine. Went in for a check up and there is now minor scarring on the retina (on a scale of 1-10 it is a 1 being smallest risk). Was told nothing to worry about that it is very common after surgery. No one mentioned it before so I assume it is recent. what can that scarring cause?

You are describing macular pucker or epiretinal macular membranes. Laser not help. If large and vision is severely affected surgery can often help but usually does not restore perfect vision.

Likely the retina surgery by itself. In almost all types of RD surgery scars (adhesions) are purposefully created with laser, freezing or diathermy to scar the retina in place.
