How to treat exophoria? surgery?

Hi there, I am 17 years old, and I have been diagnosed with exphoria since january of 2010 by my optometrist (mind the spelling) and she has incorporated 3 prism in each of my lenses since I have large disparity where my eyes don't converge, and drift away, a.k.a. "Wall Eyes." She has recommended me to do eye exercises, but I have not seen any improvement on the appearance of my eyes. They continue to not look like they are focusing in pictures, or mirrors and my eyes seem to be increasingly bulging out. Is that normal, because it has been taking a toll on my self-esteem and my confidence. What can I do? Is there a type of effective surgery that can return my eyes back to the way they used to be.

The prisms are unlikely to help and may work against you since they weaken fusion amplitudes in most cases and make your eye "dependent" on prism in glasses. I would suggest you see a strabismus/pediatric ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.org
