Is there any Optic Atrophy/neauropathy Treatement Availible ?
My brother -inlaw has been diagnosed with Optic Atrophy/neauropathy. He started loosing his vision in his left eye gradually last year up until december 2015 , only then he realised he was bling in his left eye. I have taken him to see eye specialist and they have done every test,nutritional,pressure,glaucoma,vitamin b12,ct scans but to no avail. they havent conclusively confirmed the cause of his Atrophy/neuropathy. Since jan 2016 his vision in his right started degraging rapidly and to date he is now blind. The doctors basicly gave us no hope of helping him regain his sight, as they havent even found the cause of his condition.
Can anyone please assist us to help him regain his sight whether it be 50%, we desperately looking for help for him?
We are situated in Durban South Africa.Is there any treatment available for his condition?

Since the cause is unknown it's not possible to offer a cure. As a generalization there are many causes of optic atrophy. It would be important to live a ultra-healthy lifestyle: No nicotine or cannabis, meticulous control of blood pressure, cholesterol, body weight, exercise, no alcohol. I would consider bundling all the tests and heading for a world class tertiary eye center in Europe or USA.
