JodieJ gave you good advice.
Dr. O.
There seems to be a wide range of experiences related to recovery from eye muscle surgery. My recovery was much easier than others who have posted here. I developed diplopia and strabismus secondary to monovision contact lens wear. (I was probably born with a vulnerability, since this is not something common.) I had eye muscle surgery on my left eye only in '05. It was an outpatient procedure (what's not these days?) and completely painless. The afternoon of my surgery I was shopping at the mall (wearing sunglasses to cover a red eye), and I could drive myself to the followup appointment the next day. The surgery was a complete success.
If you have a general ophthalmologist, s/he would be a good source for a referral. I found my surgeon by using the Castle-Connolly directory of "top doctors" (available online). You could also use the directory at www.aao.org--but make sure that the surgeon you choose has at least several years of experience.
