Dear Doctor:
I've been noticing for 2 weeks that when I look in the mirror, my eyes dilate unevenly, the right eyes dilate more, but they are the same size when constrict. My husband notice the same thing when he shines the flash light to my eyes. I waited until today for my followup appt. with my Opthalmologist for dry eyes and OCP.
Today, the assistant took me in and looked into my eyes with the small flash light and he saw that my right eye dilates more than the left. He then did the visual field test for me. Then I came in to see my opthalmologist and this is what she said:
1) visual field test = normal which is good
2) Dry eyes get better, less dry spot
3) vision measurement = improved a lot (by reading the letter chart)
4) OCP = 22 on both eyes, increased from last time 19
After all the exam, at some point, she gave me eye drops (yellow color), she stated that my pupils are frisky, very reacted to light, all looked good and she didn't notice that the right eye dilates more than the left eye. She said they are equal in size.
Then why did my husband, myself and the assistant all saw that my right eye dilates more than the left?
is it because we, not doctors, did it with the dim light on and not with the special light like the one opthalmologist used in the room. The room was totally dark (all lights off) when she examined my eyes.
Thanks in advance, please explain it to me, I'm confused
