gas bubble driving me crazy

I had surgery for a detached retina on 4/14/2009.  I had a sclera buckle placed a gas bubble injected that day and then another one 2 days later in an effort to keep the retina in place.  (I've also had 6 laser treatment post surgery). I know that it is normal and this is probably more venting than a question but the gas bubble though smaller is now breaking into multiple bubbles and its making me crazy.  I work on the computer all day building databases and I need to really concentrate which is just so hard to do.  There is also a small floater that keeps moving around in the eye in addition to the bubble formation.  I keep my eye closed, which gets tiring.  A patch doesn't seem to make it any better, just irritates me more.  It's been 5 weeks and I am still walking around with one eye closed all the time.   I lead a very busy life between working  8 hours plus and helping take care of my mother who has dementia.  I am just anxious to get back to my pre-surgery self where I can see and am not exhausted and ready for bed by 7pm (can't go to bed but sure wnat to). Guess I just wanted to vent to people who may have been or are in a simialr place.

I went through it myself last September, I would say a full 8 weeks.  The longer the bubble is there the more it presses on the retina to keep it flat which is your goal.
MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE HEAD POSITION, VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!

The analogy used, is the bubble is like that heavy metal tool that presses against a freshly installed wallpaper to keep it extremely flat.

In my experience one good thing that came out of this, it strengthened my other eye
Also take Barlean's Flax oil and Solaray Ultra Zeaxanthin, these are natural vitamins and can be purchased at a health store.  I have benefited by it. better than dumping chemicals in your eyes.

Well you hang in there and soon this will be a thing of the past.  Best of luck to you

Hang in there! Since the gas bubble has broken up it'll only be a little longer before it's gone for good!
