2 WW after IUI

Is anyone else in the 2 ww after IUI?  I had my IUI done on Saturday, so I am 2 days post IUI.

I know it's too early for pregnancy symptoms, but I have been feeling a little cramping in my uterus and my one ovary.  I hope these aren't bad signs, and just part of the actual procedure.

Anyone else in the 2 ww? :-D

My apologies.  I meant to say my lining was thin <7 which my Dr. would rather see 8 or greater.  This RE that I'm seeing now doesn't recommend another IUI unless I have a lap performed, as you said, if I do have endo an IUI wouldn't be of much help, although I have heard of some women with endo go on to have healthy pregancies.

It sounds like your RE is correct.  I was prescribed letrazole with my first RE, because of my thin lining on clomid, so it sounds like your on the right path.  My current RE would prefer I have a lap done before prescribing another fertilty drug to cut cost (I pay $375 our of pocket for IUI's) as well as time.  In addition fertillity meds take a toll of your body over time.

Also, like you, I don't have any symptoms of Endo (heavy periods, cramping, etc..), but he said that many women don't and the over 70% of the patients he sees usually have some form of Endo, which can be helped by having a lap or in extreme cases ivf.

In answer to your question, I've done 2 inseminations....and yes it is a crazy rollercoaster ride.

Thanks so much for sharing your story.  It's always so interesting to hear what other people are going through, and what has brought them to this point.

I have also had every test done short of a laproscopy.  I was nervous to have an IUI done before the lap, because of the lap did show endo, the IUI wouldn't be that successful I'm guessing.  I don't have any symptoms of lap, but that doesn't mean that it's not there.  Hmm. . .

I always thought 8 was a great number for the uterine lining.  Mine was only 6.5 at insemination so I was nervous about that, but the RE said that is very normal in people taking letrazole, and that the uterine lining then shoots up in size.  I guess I have to trust that.

How many IUI's have you done?  This is my first!  Oh, I hope it works. . . This rollercoaster is crazy!

Happy to share my experience.  My DH and have been trying for 5+ yrs, but in the last year 1.5yrs sought a specialist (RE).  I've had all of the preliminary test run (tubes and ovaries are fine and no history of cysts), short of a laparoscopy. As noted, we don't have a male issue, so like you, we fall into the "unexplained" category, which hopefully a laparoscopy will help solve some of the mystery.

As noted, I've been on clomid twice, but ovulate on my own, so the clomid only increases the number of follies produced.  I've opted not to take clomid, as the side effects are pretty harsh and it thins my lining, although there are other meds that I can take.

This is my second RE and he is great.  He zoomed in right away and noticed my thin lining, which was 8 so he immediatel prescribed Prometrium (progestrone).  He also noticed that I have very thick cm (called "hostile cm") around the time of ovulation, which may be the reason that DH's sperm isn't penetrating to reach the egg.  Both of these factors together or seperate could be what is causing my infertility - hopefully:).  If not, then I will have the lap to see if I have endometrious (sp??).  Should that be the case then the Dr. will try to clean as much as he can and we'll try again.  Lastly, I will have an ivf performed, which are becoming more and more successful everyday.

The one thing I have found is that have a good doctor (RE) is imperative.  My first RE wasn't that thorough.  This facility is very thoughtful always calls with my results the next day.

Hope this helps and please keep me posted on your status.

76ml?  Those counts are awesome! :-D  I'm guessing there isn't a male issue going on then? ;-)  (I think I heard anything above 5ml for IUI is acceptable)  My DH's sperm count was 36 million post wash, and of those, 99% were motile, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Do you mind me asking. . . How long have you been TTC, and have you been diagnosed with why you're having problems?

My DH and I are in a somewhat unexplained category according to our RE.  My husband's morphology is a bit low, but motility and all of that is great.  And my cycles are a little long and unpredictable, but I do ovulate.  So confusing all of this. :-(

Hi There,

Yes, I can test 2 days before my next cycle, by then the HCG shot should be out of my system and my results should be somewhat accurate.  If I test negative I will re-test the day of.  If still negative, then I will have a blood test to confirm and next step will be to have a lap performed.  Hopefully, I won't have to go that round, but will be okay if I do.

My DH sperm count was 76ml post wash.  How was yours.

You had an IUI test a day after me, and it sounds like you are testing 2 days before me. :-D  My doctor told me to wait 15 days post IUI.  I'm sure I could test sooner, but if it is negative, I don't want to second guess if I tested too early, so I'm going to do everything in my power to wait!!!

How were the sperm counts for your inseminations?

I had an iui done on Sunday so I'm only a day behind you.  I feel slight cramping too, but am trying my best not to make much out of it.  The earliest I can test in the 19th (had HCG shot), so the wait is killing me.

Please keep me posted.
