I am still in my waiting days for AF to come. I was on 200mgs of Clomid earlier of this month, went in for a couple of U/S...only to find out that my follies at the 2nd U/S "collasped".
Had bloodwork done and levels of progesterone came back at 0.9, which NP (nurse practitioner) said that I did not "O" (ovulate).
She said that when AF comes...to call back into RE's office and they will put me back on Clomid again, (at 200mgs) but will have me go on Metformin as well.
I went through the ENTIRE head to toe exams and such to rule out that anything was wrong with me.
Insulin was fine, no endometrosis, no PCOS, no anything.
But when I did some research online, I too, discovered that it was for people who are diabetic.
Here I'm thinking, "I'm NOT diabetic either!"
NP at RE's office said that she will start me off by taking 1 Metformin pill a day opposed to the typical 3x a day, as it is known to upset the stomach causing diarreah and such.
So I too...am wondering the same thing, because I don't have PCOS, I'm NOT diabetic.
::sigh::
Just waiting for AF now...
Yeah, I read alot about metformin while being on this site (never heard of it before coming here), but my doctors are going to try me on it for the PCOS. It so funny that I was diagnosed with PCOS at 21 and no one has ever told me about it. If this works for me, alot of doctors are going to have some explaining to do.
Anyway, it's supposed to help with regulating your cycles and the research has proven it to help with miscarriages with woman who have PCOS.
I was put on metformin for insulin resistance...and i will find out wed if it worked out...but yeah..there is a reason for being put on it...not just cause.
Nobody takes Metformin as a part of a TTC "protocol". They take it for either PCOS, or for insulin resistance. It may help people who suffer from either condition conceive.
